A dental practice lifted its treatment-query rankings

An established practice was sending thousands of clicks a quarter to competitors because it ranked at page four for the treatments that matter.

The challenge

An established dental practice held genuine standing in its city, with steady local presence and real demand for the treatments that fill its diary. Yet across high-intent treatment queries it sat at an average position of 40.7, effectively page four, where almost no one looks. That gap between reputation and visibility was quietly handing thousands of clicks a quarter to nearby competitors who ranked where patients actually search. The practice was strong everywhere except the one place a prospective patient decides who to call.

Strong locally, invisible in search: we closed the gap where patients actually decide.

Our approach

Mapping treatment demand, not just the brand

We started by separating the queries that fill a dental diary from the ones that merely mention the practice. Working through the full spread of treatment and emergency terms, we built a clear picture of which pages were meant to rank, which were competing against each other, and where the practice was invisible despite obvious local demand. That map showed the problem was structural rather than a lack of authority, and it set the priority order for everything that followed.

Rebuilding the treatment pages around intent

Each core treatment had been leaning on thin or overlapping content that gave search engines little reason to rank it. We reworked those pages one treatment at a time, giving every high-intent query a single, unambiguous home with on-page content written for the patient asking the question. Titles, headings and internal structure were aligned so the right page answered the right search, rather than several weaker pages splitting the signal between them.

Fixing the local foundations

For a practice, treatment rankings and local signals move together. We tightened the local SEO groundwork so the city-level and emergency queries had consistent, well-structured pages behind them, with clear location and service context. This is unglamorous work, but it is what lets a treatment page compete in a specific city rather than drift in a national field where it was never going to be found.

Earning the click, not only the position

A higher ranking only pays off if the listing is worth choosing. We rewrote titles and meta descriptions so each result spoke to what the patient was weighing at the moment of search, from routine treatments to an emergency dentist late in the day. Making the listing clearer and more relevant is what turned improved positions into a measurable lift in how often people actually clicked through.

What moved, and why

The average position across high-intent treatment queries moved from 40.7 to 27.4, lifting the practice off page four and into range where patients begin to look. Because the treatment pages were rebuilt around intent and backed by tightened local foundations, the emergency dentist query for the city reached 6.6, close to the first page for one of the most valuable, ready-to-book searches a practice can hold.

Better positions were paired with sharper listings, and the two compounded. Clearer, more relevant titles and descriptions lifted the click-through rate by 40 percent, so the practice not only appeared more often but was chosen more often, recovering clicks that had been going to competitors.
