A lighter website is a faster one.

The websites we build are engineered to be fast, which makes them light, which makes them low-carbon. We measure it honestly against a published standard, and show our working.

The short answer

A website’s carbon footprint comes mostly from the data it moves and the energy used to serve it. We build lightweight, fast pages and measure each one’s emissions per visit with the Sustainable Web Design model, the same open method behind tools like Website Carbon.

How we keep it low

Light by design, not by offset.

Lightweight by construction

We hand-build lean pages instead of loading heavy themes and plugins. Fewer bytes over the wire is the single biggest lever on a page's carbon, and it is the same thing that makes the site fast.

Efficient media and fonts

Images are sized and modern-format, fonts are subset and self-hosted, and nothing loads that the page does not need. Less transferred data, less energy per visit.

Measured, not assumed

Every page's transfer weight is converted to grams of CO2e using the Sustainable Web Design model, so the figure reflects the real page, not a guess.

Monitored over time

We track page weight per route so a heavy new asset gets caught, rather than quietly dragging the footprint up after launch.

How the grade is worked out.

Each page’s transferred bytes are converted to grams of CO2e per visit, then mapped to a grade on the Sustainable Web Design rating scale. Lower is better.

Methodology

Shown in the open.

We measure real transferred bytes per page using the browser’s Resource Timing data, then estimate emissions with the Sustainable Web Design model (v4) via the open-source CO2.js library from the Green Web Foundation. Hosting is checked against the Green Web Foundation’s green-hosting registry. We publish the method rather than a green sticker, because a rating you cannot check is worth nothing.
