Web designWebsite replatforming

Replatform once, and replatform properly.

A replatform is not a reskin. It is a chance to move onto the right foundation and rebuild light, fast and structured to rank, without leaving your hard-won traffic behind on the old platform.

The short answer

Website replatforming is moving your site from its current platform, a CMS, framework or hosted builder, onto one that fits how you actually publish, sell and get found, then rebuilding on it without shedding the rankings, content and speed you already have. Rogue Logic handles the build side: platform selection, a clean rebuild engineered for Core Web Vitals and structured for search and AI, run in step with the redirect and parity work that protects your traffic. Bespoke builds start at £5,000 plus VAT, with hosting and management on our own platform from £100 a month.

01In depth

Website replatforming, in full.

Replatforming is what happens when the platform itself has become the ceiling. The design can be refreshed and the content improved, but if the underlying CMS or framework is slow, rigid or fighting your team every time you publish, you are paying for the same limitation again and again. A replatform moves you off it, and done well it is the point where speed, structure and how easily you can run the site all step up at once.

The risk is that a replatform is really two projects wearing one name. There is the build, choosing the new platform and rebuilding on it, and there is the transfer, carrying every ranking, link and piece of accumulated authority across a URL structure that has almost certainly changed. Treat it as a build alone and the site can launch looking perfect, then shed a third of its organic traffic three weeks later because the redirects were an afterthought. The fall arrives long after the launch team has moved on.

We run both sides as one piece of work. The platform is chosen for how you actually operate, the rebuild is hand-built light and structured to rank, and the URL map, redirects and parity checks are planned as the templates go up rather than bolted on at cutover. Ideally we are involved before the platform is even decided, because the cheapest place to protect your traffic is in the plan, not the recovery.

This is senior work by design. Weighing one platform against another, deciding what carries across and what is cut, and scoping a redirect map are judgement calls, not a checklist a junior runs on autopilot. The four of us have spent roughly forty years between us on exactly this kind of move, which is why we take on the replatforms other agencies called complicated.

02What it covers

Website replatforming, broken down.

Platform selection and fit

The decision that shapes everything after it. We assess how you publish, sell and scale, then recommend the platform that fits, headless, a modern framework, or a hosted platform, with the trade-offs spelled out in plain terms rather than a vendor pitch. The goal is a foundation that stops being a constraint, not the newest name.

A clean rebuild, not a heavy port

We rebuild on the new platform rather than lifting the old site across wholesale, shedding the plugin weight, dead templates and rendering debt the previous stack accumulated. What earned rankings is kept and improved; what was quietly slowing you down does not make the trip.

URL mapping and redirect strategy

A new platform almost always changes URL structure, and that is where traffic disappears. Every URL carrying rankings or links is inventoried, weighted and given a one-to-one destination, so the switch preserves the authority you spent years building instead of leaking it into catch-alls.

Content and template parity

The new site has to say what the old one said where it earned rankings. We check body content, titles, descriptions and internal linking for parity as templates are built, so a cleaner design does not silently delete the pages and text that were doing the work.

Performance on the new stack

A replatform is a fresh chance to get Core Web Vitals right, or to regress them under a heavier build. We engineer speed and stable rendering into the new platform from the start so the site launches fast and holds it as it grows.

Explore →

AI-ready structure

Clean semantic HTML and the right schema built into the new templates so assistants can read, understand and cite your pages, the same foundations that win classic search rather than a separate layer bolted on after launch.

03How we run it

The way we run Website replatforming.

01

Scope the platform and the risk

We establish why the current platform is holding you back, what the new one has to do, and how much ranking traffic is in play. That tells us which platform genuinely fits and where the exposure sits before any decision is locked in.

02

Select the platform and plan the build

We recommend the platform with the trade-offs made explicit, then plan the rebuild: what carries across, what is cut, and how the new architecture should be shaped for search, AI and how your team actually works.

03

Map every URL before anything moves

We inventory the current URLs with their rankings, links and value and assign each a destination on the new platform. That map is the single reference the whole switch is checked against, so nothing valuable is dropped by accident.

04

Rebuild clean, fast and structured

We hand-build on the new platform, light and semantic, with schema and a controlled URL architecture engineered in from the first commit, so the site is ready to rank and be cited at launch rather than fixed afterwards.

05

QA on staging, then switch behind redirects

We verify redirects, content parity, crawlability and rendering on staging while there is still time to fix them, then launch behind the full redirect map and confirm against live crawl and index behaviour rather than assuming it worked.

06

Monitor through the risky weeks

The first weeks after cutover are where problems surface. We watch indexation, rankings and crawl errors closely and act fast on anything that slips, so a small issue is corrected in days rather than found in a later report.

04Our approach

How we approach Website replatforming.

The right platform, chosen for fit

We recommend the platform around how you publish, sell and scale, headless, a modern framework or a hosted platform, with the trade-offs spelled out plainly rather than sold. The goal is a foundation that stops being a constraint, not the newest name on the market.

A clean rebuild, not a heavy port

We rebuild on the new stack rather than lifting the old site across wholesale, shedding the plugin weight, dead templates and rendering debt the previous platform accumulated. What earned rankings is kept and improved; what was slowing you down does not make the trip.

Traffic protected through the switch

Every URL that carries rankings or links is mapped and redirected one to one, with content and template parity checked as the build goes up, so authority transfers to the new platform instead of leaking away in the weeks after launch.

Engineered for speed and AI from the start

Core Web Vitals, semantic HTML and the right schema are built into the new templates from the first commit, so the site launches fast and readable by search and AI assistants rather than being fixed after go-live.

06Why us

Who runs your replatform, and how

Rogue Logic is the trading name of Bryley Ltd, a team of four senior practitioners with roughly forty years of combined experience between them. Your replatform is scoped, chosen, built and switched by the people who have done it before, not passed down to a junior working out how a new platform behaves on your live traffic. We treat it as one piece of work, the right platform and a clean rebuild on the build side, a mapped and monitored transfer on the SEO side, because separating them is exactly where replatforms lose the traffic they were meant to improve.

Senior hands on the decision and the build

Platform selection, what to keep and cut, and the redirect plan are judgement calls, so they sit with experienced practitioners rather than a checklist run on autopilot.

Build and transfer, run together

We do not rebuild first and worry about SEO at cutover. The URL map, parity checks and redirects are planned as the new platform is built, so the switch is controlled rather than hopeful.

Honest about what fits

If a lighter change would serve you better than a full replatform, or if a particular platform is the wrong fit for how you work, we say so plainly rather than selling a rebuild you do not need.

07Common questions

Website replatforming: common questions.

How much does website replatforming cost?

A bespoke rebuild starts at £5,000 plus VAT, scoped to your platform, site size and how much has to move, with hosting and management on our own platform from £100 a month where it is our build. We price it properly on a call once we understand the current site and the switch, rather than quoting a headline number that changes later.

What is the difference between replatforming and a website migration?

Replatforming is the build side, choosing a new platform and rebuilding on it. A migration is the SEO discipline that protects your rankings and links through any URL change, including a replatform. We run both together, because a replatform almost always moves URLs, and moving them without a mapped, monitored transfer is where traffic quietly disappears.

Will we lose our search rankings when we replatform?

Not if the switch is handled properly. A new platform usually changes URL structure, so we map every URL that carries rankings or links, redirect it one to one, check content and template parity, and monitor indexation closely after launch. That is the difference between a controlled transfer and the drop most careless replatforms suffer weeks later.

Which platform will you replatform us onto?

Whichever genuinely fits how you publish, sell and scale, headless, a modern framework, or a hosted platform. We assess your team, content and commercial needs, then recommend with the trade-offs made explicit. The point is a foundation that stops being a constraint, not loyalty to one stack forced onto every client.

Can you work alongside our existing developers?

Yes. We can run the whole replatform, or own the SEO and structural side, the URL map, redirects, parity and schema, and hand your developers a clear specification to build against. We are used to slotting into a build team rather than replacing one.

How long does a replatform take?

It depends on the size of the site and the platform, but the shape is consistent: scope and platform selection, then the rebuild and URL mapping in parallel, QA on staging, a switch behind the redirect map, and close monitoring through the first weeks live. The riskiest window is those first weeks, so we stay on it through that period.

Do you build the new platform so AI assistants can read it?

Yes. We build the new templates with clean semantic HTML and the right schema so assistants can read, understand and cite your pages, the same foundations that win classic search rather than a separate trick added afterwards.

Do you host and maintain the replatformed site?

We host and manage the sites we build on our own platform from £100 a month, kept fast, secure and technically healthy as the site changes. We do not take on hosting for sites built elsewhere.
